Our Studio

an endless source of inspiration

A source of endless inspiration and serenity for designers and clients alike, the church that is now Homewood Interiors was originally constructed in 1899. While its façade, purpose, and usage changed through the years before undergoing a complete restoration and transformation in 2013 by Stacia Smith, it stands as a testament to its enduring vision and unique reflection.

A new home

for Homewood Interiors

The Providence Episcopal Methodist Church in Glenelg, Maryland, sat empty for years and was initially purchased by Stacia and her husband as an investment property. However, its unique features and convenient location made the church an ideal home for Stacia’s newly formed company, Homewood Interiors.

Stacia engaged an architectural firm that specializes in historic building restorations to develop a project plan and blueprints. She worked closely with the architect, taking special care to maintain the integrity of the church, while bringing the property up to modern standards and creating a functional space for Homewood Interiors.

MEET THE TEAM

WHO WE ARE

Stacia has worked in the design industry for over 25 years. Homewood Interiors was founded when Stacia discovered a building in need of some divine intervention. With bold ideas and a passionate vision to grow, she painstakingly renovated and restored the building and moved the team to the little white church in Glenelg, Maryland. The end result is an inspirational setting.

Stacia Smith

OWNER, PRINCIPAL

Stacia brings an upbeat and easygoing energy to each project she undertakes. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nevada at Reno and initially worked as a copywriter for an international company in Hong Kong. She developed a passion for design in her position as Creative Services Director for a firm in London, where she dressed sets.

With her unique sense of humor and a somewhat irreverent approach to decorating, Stacia immediately puts new clients at ease as she guides them through the challenges and occasional frustrations of homebuilding and interior design. From the initial planning stages and selections, through creative solutions and problem-solving, Stacia is personally involved with each of her clients, and every aspect of the project. Whether working from blueprints on a home under construction, designing spaces that reflect a distinct corporate image, or simply breathing new life into an existing room, Stacia’s thirty-plus years of experience make the process as stress-free for her clients as possible.

Jenny Gillis

designer

As a child, Jenny spent countless hours in dollhouse re-dos and rearranging of furniture in her home before she realized she possessed a love for design. However, it took a college degree in an unrelated field to finally convince her to take the plunge into the design world through coursework at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Life experiences (marriage, motherhood, renovation, and the new build of several houses) all followed until Jenny called on Stacia for help with her own home.

As her style evolved from traditional/transitional to contemporary elements, she found the blending of styles created interest and opportunities for fresh interpretations. Jenny brings a well-rounded perspective to design, having experienced the process from both the eyes of the client and those of the designer. Fundamental to her belief is that your home should be a unique reflection of you and your family. When she’s not envisioning beautiful spaces as a designer at Homewood Interiors, Jenny finds inspiration and renewal in walks on the beach with her family and dogs.

Lindsey Dailey

designer

Lindsey brings fresh eyes and a spirited, youthful creativity to Homewood Interiors. A love of artistic endeavors led Lindsey to the University of Maryland where she attained a degree in Fine Arts. Additional coursework in design soon followed and Lindsey discovered she had a flair for creating spaces that called to people and welcomed them inside. Her passion for travel to places both near and far offers her endless inspiration in the sites she sees and meaningful objects she collects along the way. Lindsey believes the best spaces are the ones that tell a story about the people who inhabit them through color, pattern, texture, and artwork. When not designing, Lindsey can be found hiking outdoors and spending time with her friends, family, and dogs.

Del and Winston

CHIEF LABRADOR RETRIEVERs

Del and Winston are perhaps the most important members of the Homewood Interiors team. They bring a tenacity and happiness to the studio that is unmatched and their talent for playing with a tennis ball for hours on end is nothing short of unbelievable. Additionally, their ability to sniff out lunch leftovers and decide upon new fabric selections is unsurpassed. Coming in for an appointment at our studio? You may just get to meet the unofficial greeters of Homewood.
